Modern Advances Come With Responsibility

In today’s age, technology is a part of everything. Almost everyone is constantly checking texts or social media. New technology like 3D printers could become a normal appliance in the near future. However, some gadgets are becoming all too much. Sure, phones help keep you connected with friends and world news. But what if it starts to replace real interaction? We need to consider how our actions could affect the future of our world. I don’t want to sound corny talking about this, but change is a serious topic. If we have changed so much in the past decade, what will the near future look like? At some point, we need to start being a little more simplistic. Otherwise, there will be no escaping the constant cell phone ring or texting. We are human beings, not cyborgs. We also need to think about what powers these gadgets, and how to be more efficient.

One of the best parts of modern technology is medical advances. We are so much more advanced today than we were ten years ago. This is one of the pros to modern day living. Transportation is improving as well. More environmentally friendly vehicles are being designed. Until we improve, we need to become even MORE efficient. We are so dependent on electrical power today, it is ridiculous. Think about it like this.. what happens when the power goes out during a storm? The lights, oven, refrigerator, outlets, and other appliances cease to work. We need to become more dependent on other resources. The same goes for gasoline. We constantly pump gas into our vehicles just to make them work. Emissions are released into the air until the fuel tank is empty. Gasoline is a LIMITED resource. We can’t depend on these two resources because someday gasoline and oils supplies will be depleted. Also, we cannot solely rely on electric power to charge and work home appliances. Sure, this supply is not limited. But if it fails to work, we are lost.

We need to become more responsible and aware of our technology use. If not, it will become a factor in everything. It is hard to imagine what the future will look like, but I do know one thing. Unless we slow down on technological advances and resource use, we will have a big problem. After all, when you have pros it’s important to also take a look at the cons.

What Will Make the New COD Be The Best

As most gaming enthusiasts know, Call of Duty Ghosts will be coming out November 5, 2013 for the new generation of consoles. This will be the tenth installment of the multi-million dollar franchise and as many people agree, the series is growing stale. It seems like after Modern Warfare 2 that there seems to be a cycle players go through. The first three months every is saying the game is the best, the next three months the game gets boring, but everyone still plays it, the next three months everyone goes back to playing the game released before it saying it was much better, and then the last few months everyone gets pumped for the new COD that everyone forgets about the old COD. What COD Ghosts needs to do to keep players into it is something we’ve been asking for a long time. They need to run dedicated servers for each game mode. This reduces lag to almost nothing, which means if you don’t pull host you’ll have just as good as a connection as the person who did pull host. If Infinity Ward and Activision put as much time into this as we assume, it will revolutionize the way we play video games.

Xbox One

The Xbox One was announced on May 21, 2013. This console was made to revolutionize the way you play video games. It has an 8-core CPU, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and 500 gigabytes storage, this console is taking a leap to the future. With an entirely redesigned look for everything (Xbox, controller, and Kinect), it is going to put the PS4 in a bad position going into E3 this summer. All eyes are going to be on Microsoft’s presentation instead of Sony’s because their presentation in February was so bad that they didn’t even show the console. I think that the Xbox franchise is going to greatly expand because of how cool this console is. Although they only gave the public a tidbit of information, E3 will certainly shed some light on how amazing this console is going to be. Although pricing and the release is unknown, it is rumored to be $400 and release this holiday season.

R/C Wi-SPI Helicopter

Wi-Spi HeliSo do you remember when you were younger, playing with that toy helicopter or plane? Wishing that someday, they would make on without that flimsy controller, or even that could take video? Well, they did it! Actually, they did both! They now have a helicopter that can take live video, and be controlled with your iPhone. Now with the R/C Wi-SPI Helicopter, you can video your sibling taking your favorite cereal, or just have fun flying this around your neighborhood. This toy is fun for all ages (Recommended 14+) and even if you don’t think you will have any fun with it, get it for someones birthday! It’s a great gift to give if you know someone still has that “inner child” in them.

Pictures: The Memories

Pictures, they capture anything: Long lasting memories, accomplishments, and life changing moments. I love taking pictures. I take pictures with my friends and family of which I love to share on Instagram. Sharing these times and taking pictures to remember them always brings a smile to my face. My biggest pet peeve to my own self is when I don’t look good in pictures. It bothers me and I always find myself saying, “Ew, bad picture. Take another.” Although I like to look good, if I don’t get to take another picture, and the memory means a lot, I am completely fine with the picture. After all, it’s the memory that counts. Pictures will always be one of my favorite things to take, as i already have hundreds of them on phone and computer. If you don’t already take lots of pictures, I suggest you do because one day you will look back at them and it will put a smile on your face. Continue reading

Crazy Inventions: The Verge

My previous posts on “Crazy Inventions” have been pretty popular, so I’ve decided to add another article to the series.

Do you like reading cool articles? I do! But finding them can be a task. It’s not easy to find good websites with them! But search no more, here is a website that will save you some precious time. I was referred to this amazing website called theverge.com. The Verge is a fantastic website with lots of new articles on weird gadgets and products every day.

The Verge is great for various reasons. It’s unique layout is eye- catching, and there are several, well- written articles posted daily. There are several writers for The Verge, so there is no shortage of entertainment and information!   When I first looked at the website, I immediately knew I would like it. You will too! In addition to the great gadget articles, there are various product reviews and new stories posted frequently. It’s a good way to stay informed.

Another great aspect of the Verge, is that stories usually come out before you hear about them on the news. Did you hear about the Apple iWatch rumor? I read about it on the Verge about a week before I did on the news. Sound too good to be true? I thought so! Trust me, you need to take a look.

Be sure to check it out: http://www.theverge.com/
