Top 5 Candies

It’s that time again!  It’s time for another top 5 blog.  This week is all about candy.  Now it’s time to jump right into number 5.

This week I have decided on Mike & Ikes to be the 5th place candy.  These are fruit flavored, chewy, pill shaped candies.  They tasted amazing at first, but recently they started to taste different.  I’m not sure if it is a change in recipe, or a different variety, but that’s what kept them from beating the 4th place candy.

In 4th place are M&M’s.  These are circle shaped candies about a centimeter in diameter.  They are chocolates covered with candy that come in red, blue, orange, yellow, green, and brown.  The colorings do not affect the flavor of the candy, but the touch of color can really lighten your day.  Without the color, the candies would look dull.

Third on the list are Skittles.  These are the same shape and size as M&Ms, but they have a purple color instead of brown.  Each color of the rainbow has a different fruit flavor.  I have enjoyed Skittles since I was introduced to them by a friend many years ago, and I have loved them ever since for the great, fruity taste.

My second favorite candies are Smarties.  They are small, stubby, and cylinder shaped.  They stack up to make a long cylinder of different pastel colored candies within one wrapper. They fall apart into a sweet powder when they hit your tongue, each a different flavor depending on the color of the candy.  Therefore, people can develop personal favorites.  In my opinion, the white ones are the best.

All these candies are good, but my favorite, without contest, is the Reese’s peanut butter cup.  This is a peanut butter filling surrounded by chocolate and wrapped in a short paper cup about 1 inch in diameter.  It is something about that combination of chocolate and peanut butter that completes that candy.  Reese’s melt in your mouth and brighten any day.  This is not only the best tasting candy, but also the healthiest.  However, that doesn’t prove much, since candy isn’t well known for being a health food.
