The 2013 NBA Playoffs has been truly exciting, and entertaining for NBA fans. Teams with no particular allstar or leader have had players stand up and lead the team. One team that stands out in this part of the game is the Memphis Grizzlies. Early on in the regular season the Grizzlies had their leader in Rudy Gay but traded him away to the Raptors. The Grizzlies finished the season playing like a team, but were missing one thing, a true leader. As the playoffs started starting point guard Mike Conley has stepped out to make an attempt to lead the Grizzlies. In this year’s Postseason Conley has averaged 17 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. In the beginning of the first round the “leader” was unclear but Conley quickly stepped up and lead the Grizzlies past the Los Angeles Clippers who were having a great season expected to go far in the playoffs. He scored 81 total points in the 6 game series win vs the Clips. Second round the Grizzlies have to face last year’s West representative in the NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder. He scored a total of 90 points in the 5 game series win vs the Thunder. After 2 rounds plus 2 games he has scored a total of 203 points. The Grizzlies find themselves down 2 games to none, and are looking to Conley for the key to win. As you can see Mike Conley has been a phenomenal leader for the Grizzlies, and will hope to lead them to a Ring.
