Everyone knew it was bound to happen at some point. The Miami Heat’s great winning streak has come to an end after 27 games in a row. Their loss came to the Chicago bulls on March 27, 2013. I personally think the Bulls were cheap, by fouling the Heat’s best player LeBron James very hard. They lost 101-97 in a tough game which would have made them 5 games shy of tying the 71-72 Lakers for the longest streak ever. The last time the Heat had lost before this game was Feb 1 to the Indiana Pacers. Their winning streak lasted 53 days, but not every game was a breeze. They had a couple games go into overtime and against the Magic a game winning layup by LeBron James.
The most amazing game of the streak was by far the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 20. At halftime the score was 55-34 Cleveland winning. At one point in the game the Heat were losing by 27 points. LeBron took over the game at the end hitting three 3-pointers in a row to take the lead and then two free throws to take the three point lead. The Heat managed to make a great comeback and win 98-95. If the Heat couldn’t break the streak record, no team can.
As a Heat fan and I was very disappointed when I saw them lose, but they are getting better and better every game. They already clinched a playoff spot and they should win the championship. The only teams that can take the Heat to seven games in the playoffs are the Spurs, Pacers, Nuggets, and maybe the Thunder and Celtics. If the Heat keep up their intensity and stay healthy, LeBron and his teammates should have another ring on their hands.
