Has this ever happened to you? You are lying in bed, and you have been staring at the ceiling for two hours and you still can not fall asleep. The fact of the matter is that in our very stressful and hectic world, more and more people are having trouble falling asleep. So if you are one of the millions that can not fall asleep easily at night, don’t worry! The answer to your problem may be just a few clicks away!

Recent studies have shown that a new type of music called “white noise” has greatly decreased the amount of time it takes for people to fall asleep. White noise is a calming sound made from combining many frequencies to make a noise that sounds something like a fan. White noise is shown to help people sleep by soothing the brain and blocking background noises that may cause you to wake up.

Another widely used method to help you fall asleep faster is nature sounds. Nature sounds are made by recording a sound like a thunderstorm or beach waves, and looping them to make a very calming and repetitive noise that will help you to relax and become comfortable faster than just lying in bed.

Q: A lot of people listen to the news or the tv to help them fall asleep, isn’t that the same as listening to white noise?
A: Absolutely not. Listening to the news or tv actually requires concentration, so when you fall asleep, part of your brain is still paying attention to the radio, which will cause you not to get as good of a night sleep than listening to white noise.

Just some more things to help you fall asleep.

  • Make sure it is dark in your room
  • Don’t eat anything before going to bed
  • Drink warm milk, it will relax your muscles.
  • If you can’t sleep, do something else for a little
  • Don’t drink caffeine
  • Exercise

So, if you are having trouble falling asleep, I suggest downloading some sort of white noise application.
